Tenure/Time Base: Permanent, Non-Exempt/Part-Time
Perform a variety of limited transactional duties to serve members by receiving and disbursing funds with a high degree of accuracy. This position is responsible for processing routine financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and delivering exceptional service in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. The MSR I / Floater will also assist with opening new accounts and will rotate between branches as needed to ensure consistent service coverage, especially during peak hours, staff absences, or breaks.
Job Responsibilities
· Greet and welcome Members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
· Answer phones, emails, and follow-up on voicemails.
· Assist new Members in opening Memberships and accurately collecting all BSA/CIP required documents.
· Build relationships and enhance Member experience, respond to Member requests in a friendly, helpful, and positive manner.
· Process transactions in a prompt, efficient, confidential, and accurate manner.
· Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit into accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts, checks for proper endorsement, and accurately enter deposits into computer records and core system.
· Process withdrawals from accounts and/or share draft/check cashing, verify amounts, and enter withdrawals into the system accurately. Cash share drafts/checks from a variety of accounts upon proper verification according to credit union policies and procedures.
· Receive mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments and ensure the payments match balances due. Enter payments into computer/core system.
· Assist with mail or email transactions when available.
· Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
· Issue monetary instruments such as money orders, cashier’s checks, and open CDs.
· Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products, services, and policies that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies and procedures, rules, laws, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures, CIP and BSA.
· Promote, explain, and cross-sell other credit union services such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates, debit and credit cards, on-line/mobile banking, cashier’s checks, and money orders.
· Count, check, and package coins and currency.
· Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare total amounts to computer-generated balance sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor, as necessary.
· Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
· Report malfunctions of teller computers and other equipment used at the teller stations.
· Serve as a floater between designated branch locations, offering operational and service support wherever assigned to maintain continuity in member experience.
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements: Minimum of six (6) months of cash-handling experience, such as teller or cashier duties. Previous experience working in a credit union or financial institution preferred; knowledge of credit union operations and member service standards strongly desired. Bilingual in English and Spanish: must be able to communicate effectively with members in both languages.
Familiarity with Jack Henry’s Symitar system or similar core processing platforms preferred.
Strong commitment to reliability and punctuality, with dependable transportation to commute between multiple branch locations as needed (Burbank main branch and studio lot branch).
Flexible availability, including the ability to work Saturdays and varied schedules.
Excellent member service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability and confidence to cross-sell and promote credit union products and services to meet members’ financial needs.
Must be able to pass a background check and credit check per regulatory requirement
