Performsmoderately complex substance abuse counseling work within the DWIprograms. Work involves planning, coordinating, and implementingsubstance abuse counseling activities; and coordinating with otherdepartments to ensure the maximum utilization of resourcesavailable for chemical dependency treatment andrehabilitation.EssentialFunctions:Providessubstance abuse counseling and recovery skills training;participates in offender orientation, educational and individualand process counseling groups in compliance with program standards,guidelines, policies, andprocedures.Interviews, screens, and evaluatesoffenders for potential programparticipation.Provides a comprehensiveevaluation from a battery of valid measurement tools to assess therecovery needs and the re-offense risk ofoffenders.Participates in the IndividualTreatment Plan based on the severity and characteristics of theoffender as determined by the comprehensive assessment, review ofcollateral information, and the Clinicalinterview.Maintains offender records and otherrecords regarding services provided to include workload statistics;and compiles data and submits reports and related documentation asappropriate.Provides liaison to participantsof training programs, workshops, andseminars.Implements follow-up and after careplans for offenders that participate in the program prior to theirrelease; and disseminates information on community resources foroffender placement in follow-up treatment.Atthe conclusion of the program, an Individual Progress Summary willbe developed for each offender on caseload to reflect theevaluation results together with comments about theoffender’s level of participation and quality ofcompletion in the programs.Submit copy of theIndividual Progress Summary to the Parole Division to be includedin the Parole CaseSummary. Itis expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties asassigned within his/her capabilities as determined bymanagement.Educationand Experience Requirements:Graduation from an accredited seniorhigh school or equivalent or GED. Must have a current letter ofregistration as a Counselor Intern (LCDC-I) from the TexasDepartment of State Health Services (DSHS) or current validcertification as a Certified Criminal Justice ProfessionalApplicant Status (CCJP-A) as approved by the Texas CertificationBoard of Addiction Professionals.Valid driver’s license in the stateof Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waivedby management.#ZR #Talent
