    Job Description

    Job Summary

    Manage the Electrical Power Systems team, which designs and produces custom electric motors and controls solutions. Responsible for Talent Management, Program Execution, and Operational Excellence of the EPS Team.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Manage a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of electric power systems products.

    • Provide oversight, guidance and review of work performed by others.
    • Conduct performance reviews, track individual's goals, create development plans, and manage compensation.
    • Provide input to annual operating budget and manage group cost center budget.
    • Ensure appropriate skills mix within the group.
    • Develop staff bench strength and knowledge management to ensure continuity of critical expertise and skills.

    2. Deliver internal and external customer program commitments. Assign staff as appropriate to ensure projects are completed on-time. Monitor design from initiation through delivery to ensure product design satisfies specifications and established objectives.

    • Lead and/or delegate project management activities within EPS team to ensure programs deliver on scope, schedule, and cost.
    • Anticipate operational, program, and implementation issues and develop preventative measures.
    • Provide regular feedback to senior management and facilitate communication on project status, justifications for variances and technical information.
    • Set and hold high work quality standards for the team.

    3. Act as overarching manager to coordinate production, planning, and manufacturing engineering activities. Delegate operational leadership roles where applicable.

    • Supervise operations team to ensure the production schedule can satisfy demands.
    • Set priorities and resolve situations where production capacity is constrained.
    • Monitor process quality and continuous improvement efforts for EPS production activities.
    • Initiate process improvement programs to improve productivity, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and cost.
    • Foster feedback loop between production, quality, and service activities and engineering design team

    4. Support strategic planning and technology roadmaps to maintain differentiated solutions to customers’ most challenging problems. Plan and lead resources, projects, processes, and investments needed to achieve long term business objectives.

    • Partner with other MTS leaders to develop and implement innovative solutions that deliver differentiating customer value.
    • Support systems and R&D engineers who are responsible for technology roadmaps and provide key technical competencies within the EPS group.
    • Keep abreast of new technology and market developments.
    • Foster a systems-engineering mindset: drive consistency in architecture, processes, design documentation and tools across the product portfolio.
    • Develop concepts, cost estimates, and schedules to support product development.
    • Provide tactical plans to develop resources capable of serving business objectives.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
    • 10 years of experience in a complex, technical environment and 5 years leading teams
    • Travel: Up to 10% Domestic and International
    • Demonstrated success leading the delivery of high-risk custom systems to customers, on-schedule and on-budget
    • Proven Leadership Skills
    • Strong Technical Aptitude
    • Proficient oral and written communication skills
