ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Represent company in negotiating contracts and purchase orders and building effective relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Regularly evaluate and communicate with suppliers and vendors to ensure on time delivery and order completion.
- Identify alternative suppliers and vendors to ensure cost competitiveness and adequate capacity for materials, supplies, and services.
- Perform lead function for the site for cost savings initiatives and goals.
- Effectively manage the return and replacement of suspect material, and expedited deliveries, as necessary.
- Analyze materials market and supply systems in an effort to minimize any risks to costs and production operations.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or materials.
- Supervise warehouse clerk for the effective management of raw materials and issuance of material to production processes.
- Cooperate with sister sites within MW Industries, Inc. in the management of raw material inventory and obsolescence.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Effective relationship building and negotiation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Must be highly organized and able to prioritize work.
- Proficient understanding and use of enterprise software (Visual, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Fundamental understanding of the metals market and material grades.
- Ability to lead, plan, and manage purchasing activities.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise the warehouse clerk role.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates Degree in business administration or related course of study.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a procurement role.
JOB SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Specialist oversees the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies needed to maintain the facility and produce products. The position includes inventory analysis of raw materials, WIP and finished goods, and the evaluation of suppliers and vendors for goods and services. This role also has indirect reporting to the VP of Procurement for MW Industries, Inc.
