    Service Technician (Machine Tools)

    Position Summary:

The Service Technician is a full-time, hands-on technical expert responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of CNC machines and related equipment, including electrical, fluid, and mechanical systems. The role involves interpreting schematics, aligning machinery, troubleshooting complex servo-activated systems, and training junior techs. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, proficiency with engineering tools and blueprints, and a solid foundation in both mechanical and electrical principles. The position also requires flexibility to travel to client locations, and the ability to perform acceptance testing and customer training to ensure high satisfaction and optimal equipment performance.

This position is controls- and systems-focused, not a traditional electrician role. The Service Technician is expected to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve PLC- and CNC-controlled system faults (Fanuc and similar platforms). The role does not primarily involve electrical wiring or installation work, which is handled by on-site electricians. Candidates whose experience is primarily residential, commercial, or industrial electrical wiring may not be the right fit.

Employment Type: Full Time - Hourly

    • Strong interpretation of electrical and fluid schematics
    • Troubleshooting of fluid and electrical servo-activated systems
    • Geometrical level and alignment of CNC machines

    • Diagnosis and resolution of system-level faults, alarms, and control logic issues
    • Troubleshooting of fluid and electrical servo-activated systems at the controls level (not wiring-only work)

    Qualifications:

    • Able to meet customer needs in difficult and demanding situations
    • Demonstrated, hands-on experience troubleshooting CNC and PLC-controlled systems
    • Ability to independently diagnose control faults (not defer to electricians or controls engineers)
    • Comfortable with international travel to remote locations
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work with personal computers, various software applications, read engineering blueprints, and use hand tools
    • 4+ years’ experience in the Machine Tool Field
    • Experience with Fanuc controls or similar CNC platforms preferred
    • Hours as required to meet the needs of your projects
    • Some domestic and international travel will be required

      This role IS:

    • Focused on CNC controls, PLC troubleshooting, and system diagnostics
    • Responsible for identifying root causes of machine and control faults
    • Expected to work independently on complex technical issues

      This role IS NOT:

    • A general electrician or wiring-focused position
    • Primarily responsible for conduit, panel wiring, or facility electrical work
    • An observational or assist-only controls role

Success in this role looks like independently diagnosing and resolving CNC and PLC system faults without reliance on on-site electricians.
