Job Description

The Machine Repair Apprentice will **** installs, repairs, dismantles, assembles and maintains glass forming machines, equipment, and component parts.
Includes such skills as: Industrial Mechanical Maintenance, tube bending, welding, small machine tool operation, sheet metal work, etc.

Your Responsibilities:

• Works from complex blue prints, manuals, and other specifications (written or verbal) to determine materials and working procedures needed for IS glass forming machines and supporting equipment.
• Installs, maintains, repairs, dismantles, overhauls reassembles, adjusts and tests various types of mechanisms, and component parts.
• Welds, brazes, cuts, etc. various types of metals necessary for maintenance repairs and fabrication of new components and equipment.
• Performs a variety of trade functions such as a plumber, and sheet metal worker, etc. in performance of duties which require the necessary skills and working ability.

Qualifications

Guidelines for the apprenticeship program include the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Passing the standard aptitude test administered at the plant
• Evaluation by Candidate’s Supervisor
• Candidate’s Attendance Records
• Personal Interview by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee

In addition to the above, the Committee will also consider the following as they work through the selection process:

• Prior work experience in a trade or trades
• Related course work that has been taken above the high school level
• Candidate’s commitment to successfully completing educational requirements
