    A global, tier-1 industrial engineering company is seeking a Machine Shop & Facilities Supervisor to play a key role on their Engineering team. From designing and fabricating prototype sample parts to operating and maintaining machine shop equipment, this is a perfect role for a hands-on Engineer or Machine Shop technician looking to play a key role in designing industrial parts while also leading and managing a dedicated team of technicians. This is an excellent role for a skilled Machine Shop tradesman or hands-on Mechanical Engineer looking to take their career to the next level with a Tier-1, global industrial parts designer for the concrete, marine and irrigation industries.

    Responsibilities

    • Operate and maintain all in-house machine shop equipment, such as milling machine, cutters, bits, drills, hand and power tools, etc.
    • Fabricate prototype sample parts, assemblies, fixtures, and tooling, for production and R&D departments
    • Play key role in the development of designs through conceptual sketches, layouts, etc, and assist in the generation of engineering drawing documentation
    • Perform, assist or supervise in the rework/repair of production items including gearboxes, induction motors, weldments and mechanical components
    • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot in-plant equipent and vehicles, such as forklifts, dock lift gate, piston and screw compressors, welders, etc.
    • Oversight of facilities, including electrical and air delivery and supervise machine shop and facilities technician and monitor workloads and project progress
    • Manage safety programs, including hot work training, HAZCOM compliance and hew hire safety walkthroughs
    • Conduct building, hazard and solar panel inspections to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
    • Independently develop or provide input into the design of specialty tools such as, fixtures, jigs, and process automation set-ups required for production and inspection processes and for R&D testing. Includes layouts, sketches, etc. for creating engineering type documentation
    • Support insurance mandated building inspections by providing documentation, access and follow up actions

    Requirements

    • Trade school and/or 5+ years of progressive hands-on experience with industrial machine shop experience
    • Experience with MIG, TIG, Stick welding for fixtures, tooling fabrication and repair, and production items
    • Familiarity with facilities electrical power up to 600VAC, 3-phase, including electrical panels and service disconnects
    • Must be able to work with engineering drawing, hand sketches and rough layouts, as well as written and verbal instructions
    • Bachelors Degree or Advanced Studies in Mechanical Engineering a plus, but not required. This is a hand-on Machine Shop role, with design a secondary responsibility
    • Flawless safety record and takes pride in designing and building top-tier components
    • Proficient across the Microsoft Office Suite for parts sourcing, purchase requisitions, etc.
