Position Summary – Machining Technician
We are seeking a mechanically inclined individual interested in joining our manufacturing team at our Kansas City plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining mechanical and CNC manufacturing machines to produce high-quality parts. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanics, proficiency in interacting with machinery, and the ability to work with both legacy mechanical machines and modern CNC equipment.
Key Responsibilities – Machining Technician
Machine Setup and Operation - Machining Technician:
- Configure and set up mechanical machines (older models) and CNC machines (newer models) to meet production specifications.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure accurate production of parts according to blueprints and technical drawings.
Production - Machining Technician:
- Operate machines to manufacture parts, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to production schedules.
- Monitor production processes and make real-time adjustments to maintain product standards.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting - Machining Technician:
- Perform routine maintenance on mechanical and CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Quality Control - Machining Technician:
- Inspect finished parts for quality and precision, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Documet production data and maintain accurate records of machine settings and output.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications – Machining Technician
Education and Experience - Machining Technician:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanics or manufacturing preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in machine setup, operation, or maintenance, preferably in manufacturing or a related field.
Technical Skills – Machining Technician:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a deep understanding of machinery and mechanics.
- Proficiency in operating and setting up both mechanical machines and CNC machines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools, measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers), and diagnostic equipment.
Soft Skills – Machining Technician:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable interacting with machines and adapting to new technologies.
Physical Requirements – Machining Technician:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications – Machining Technician:
- Experience in manufacturing or a similar industry.
- Knowledge of CNC programming or G-code is a plus.
- Prior experience working with older mechanical machines.
