    Machinist II

    Overview:
    We are seeking a skilled Machinist II responsible for setting up and operating various types of conventional and CNC machine shop equipment, including manual lathes, manual mills, CNC machining centers, cylindrical grinders, and more. This role produces complex, tight-tolerance products and actively participates in documentation creation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The Machinist II will also provide guidance on equipment selection, setup/operation, and maintenance. The ideal candidate can multi-task and perform machine shop activities independently while complying with all company standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manufacture production and tooling parts using various tools, equipment, and materials.

    • Set up and operate machine shop equipment efficiently, safely, and consistently.

    • Perform component and material inspections using appropriate measuring instruments; provide guidance on in-process and final inspections.

    • Measure parts accurately using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and vision systems.

    • Interpret graphs and data used in problem solving, SPC, and performance monitoring.

    • Coordinate, execute, document, and close machine shop activities in collaboration with other departments.

    • Generate work instructions, setup sheets, and programs for machining activities.

    • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, tolerances, GD&T, operation/tool/set-up sheets, routers, procedures, and ECNs, and advise on manufacturability.

    • Train and mentor others on machining processes for production products.

    • Communicate issues and provide recommendations to appropriate personnel.

    • Troubleshoot machining issues and suggest improvements.

    • Perform routine equipment maintenance.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Complete initiatives and projects in a timely manner through effective collaboration.

    • Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures.

    • Contribute to a positive, cooperative work environment through effective communication.

    • Participate in team meetings and improvement programs to support company goals.

    • Lead technical training for machining personnel.

    • Keep management informed of area activities and significant issues.

    • Maintain a clean, secure, and well-maintained work area.

    • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as needed.

    Work Environment:

    • Exposure to manufacturing/machine shop conditions, including fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration.

    • Work involves both office and machine shop environments.

    • Full-time, 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM).

    • Overtime and weekend work may be required.

    • No travel expected.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Regularly talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to handle or feel.

    • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

    • Regularly stand for 7–8 hours, sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, crouch, and move throughout the facility.

    • Occasionally lift/move items up to 40 lbs; occasionally up to 70 lbs.

    Compensation:

    • $25 – $33 per hour.

    • Location: Chaska, MN.
