Overview:

Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision parts from bar stock and plate. Work from complex blueprints and CAD drawings to maintain dimensional accuracy and achieve surface finishes as specified. Support continuous improvement of machining processes and tooling setups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering drawings, routings, and work orders to determine proper sequence of operations and tooling requirements.

• Set up CNC mills and/or lathes: load cutting tools, establish work offsets, and perform first-piece inspections.

• Run parts through multiple operations (milling, turning, drilling, boring, tapping) while monitoring program performance.

• Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets as necessary to maintain tolerances (± 0.001") and surface-finish requirements.

• Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify part dimensions and make corrective adjustments.

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on machines (lubrication, basic alignments) to maximize uptime.

• Maintain accurate production logs, tool-change records, and inspection data for each batch.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience in a job‐shop or production environment.

• Proficient with G-code and M-code; ability to perform minor edits to existing programs.

• Skilled in reading blueprints, GD&T callouts, and engineering drawings.

• Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments and ability to hold tight tolerances.

• Familiarity with tooling selection, fixturing methods, and basic CAM/CAD workflows.

• Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to operate multiple machines simultaneously.

• Ability to lift 40 lbs and work safely around moving machinery.
