  • Responsibilities

    As a Mechanical Engineer you will design and develop new measurement technologies for material characterization working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers. In this role you will research, develop, design, test, evaluate, and document mechanical components, subassemblies, and systems, applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide mechanical engineering solutions for developing the next generation of thermal and rheology instruments for material characterization
    • Provide innovative solutions to technical problems involving the design and development of scientific instruments
    • Conduct tests at component, subsystem, and system levels; analyze data to determine design feasibility and product performance
    • Support team efforts on designing sophisticated products using a strong systems mindset including hardware and software, identify and close all technical gaps throughout ideation and development lifecycle
    • Drive projects forward utilizing fast-prototyping and other iterative design methodologies, ensuring timelines and technical requirements are met
    • Accelerate design cycles by identifying, engaging, and managing suppliers and external partners while closely collaborating with internal cross-functional teams
    • Create and present project technical reports to peers and management
    • Drive full documentation of mechanical design including BOM, drawings, and procedures

    Requirements:

    • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years experiences
    • Experience in new product design and development from concept generation through product launch
    • Design for Manufacturability and Serviceability
    • Intellectual property (IP) generation, technical publication, conference presentation, and industrial collaboration experiences are highly valued
    • Experienced in theoretical and applied thermal & fluid engineering, engineering mechanics, and materials science
    • Mechanical design experience, both component and assembly level, using SolidWorks
