Job Summary

At Mad Science we are having a BLAST helping children get excited about Science! We build and fly rockets, demonstrate eclipses, explore the states of matter, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.

As a Mad Scientist you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children.

We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science programs during after-school hours. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher, nor do you need to be a science major.

Who are we looking for?

Responsible people with experience working with children in organized groups, who enjoy science, and have reliable transportation.

We are hiring people for programs in Johnson, Wyandotte, and Miami counties in Kansas, programs in Jackson county in Missouri.

Include relevant experience with children as well as student management experience in application.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for up to five one-hour after-school science enrichment programs per week.

Prepare in advance for classes using a pre-defined curriculum, learning resources, and supplied equipment.

Lead part entertainment, part education, hands-on class that meets for one-hour each week for 4-8 weeks.

Have fun getting young children engaged in hands on science!

Qualifications:

Experience working with groups of elementary age (4-12) children (such as teaching or camp counselor)

Must be available at least three weekdays between 2 pm and 5:30 pm

Be available Friday from 1-2 PM for weekly equipment exchange meetings

Willing and able to drive to area program locations and to transport required class kits and equipment

Minimum of 1 years of college completed. Degrees and/or graduate degrees a plus.

Have a friendly, positive, and energetic communication and teaching style

Note: All employees must pass criminal background checks

We train you in the curriculum, and provide all materials. Mad Science classes follow the school calendar and are presented year round. This is part-time and rewarding work if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle.
