As a Mad Science Summer Camp Assistant, you will be working with a lead instructor to provide an exciting, interactive, hands-on science camp to elementary students. We run primarily morning half-day camps, and some full-day camps. Our camps have between 12-25 students ages 6-11. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years experience working or volunteering with elementary-age children

Have a fun & outgoing personality

Have your license and a reliable car

Be at least 17 years of age

Currently in college or planning to attend after HS graduation

Have Monday-Friday availability beginning June 22 through August 14

Background checks are required

Job Responsibilities:

Assist instructor with equipment set-up, cleaning and pack-up

Assist campers with hands-on activities

Run games during outside time

Demonstrate enthusiasm for learning!

Benefits:

Assistant instructor pay starts at $180 per week for half-day camps.

Mileage compensation is provided.

Camp hours run from 8:30am-12:30pm for half-day camps. Full-day camps runs from 8:30am-4:30 pm. Pay is $360/week.

Our camps are scheduled at host sites throughout Hampton Roads, primarily on the Southside (Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk). You may be assigned to any camp location depending upon availability.
