Job Summary

At Mad Science, we are having a BLAST! We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.

As a Mad Scientist, you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children.

We are currently looking for the best of the best to join our growing team to conduct exciting summer camps and workshops.

Responsibilities:

Facilitating our hands-on science camps and workshops.

o Camps run full day and half day (Mon-Fri).

o Workshops are usually one hour in length and are booked randomly throughout the summer for Preschool-Grade 6.

o Each session is high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on fun!

Enjoy teaching young children the art of science, technology, engineering, art/design, and coding!

Qualifications:

Some experience working with GROUPS of elementary age (4-12) children.

Camp Leads must have open availability M-F for several weeks at a time from June-August. If you have less than that, we may be able to use you for other areas of business.

Must have a reliable car and be able and willing to travel anywhere in our territory. The territory covers all of Los Angeles County and Ventura County (and beyond!).

You must complete TB screening and Livescan Fingerprinting before being hired. (To be completed AFTER the interview.)

Camp Leads must have proof of current CPR/First Aid Training or be able to complete it shortly after hiring.

Once hired you will also be required to attend a Virtus Training session, and complete Mandated Reporter Training. (Paid)

You must be at least 18 years of age.

Attend weekly staff meetings every Friday from 11:00 AM-12:00 noon in Sylmar (Paid).

Attend paid training sessions at our office.

Lift 15-35 lbs.

Minimum of 1 year of college completed. Degrees and/or graduate degrees a plus.
