Job DescriptionMad Science is the world leader in fun science programs for children. Mad Science of Mt. Diablo is looking for exceptionally talented and motivated individuals with strong credentials and an entertainer’s flair to be our STEM coaches and deliver our LIVE-at-home-STEM programs to K-5 graders through secure online sessions. Mad Science of Mt. Diablo will provide the following to eachSTEM coach:

Training on effective use of equipment

Training on online Instructional content delivery

A Pop-Up Teaching Studio comprising o f

Banner

Portable Table with table cover

Web Cam (if need be)

All materials/equipment needed for a successful class

Requirements to be a STEM Coach:

Must live in the Bay Area

Experience in teaching, tutoring, coaching, performing and/or delivery of STEM camp to groups of K-5 graders

Fun-loving, energetic, engaging, congenial personality (Think " Bill Nye the Science Guy" or Mr./Ms. Wizard!) that comes through the camera to a remote-audience

Theater, drama, arts and/or other performance experience is an added plus

Science minor, if not a major.

Flexibility and availability during 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays in June, July and August

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Logistical requirements:

Ability t o lift totes and equipment weighing u p to 40 lbs into and out of transportation

A well l it 10’X10’ S pace for our Pop-Up Studio not used by children or pets

Additional 100MB of internet bandwidth for use during the program

A personal laptop with kid-appropriate desktop background to perform online classes and with USB port for extra webcam that will be provided (if need be)

Minimum of 1 season commitment

Compensation:

Our programs are typically compensated at $250 a week for a half-day camp and $500 a week for a full-day camp. Details will be provided at the time of interview.
