    Job Summary:

    At Mad Science, we are having a BLAST! We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore states of matter using dry ice, swoop into the world of insects, help children create slime and other polymers—and more. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really about.

    As a Mad Scientist, you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children.

    We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science programs during after-school hours. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher, nor do you need to be a science major.

    Responsibilities:

    Facilitate one-hour, after-school science enrichment programs using pre-set curriculum.

    Run each class as a high-energy, hands-on experience—a hybrid of entertainment, education, and fun.

    Commit to the entire Fall session at whichever school(s) you’re assigned and agree to; each session meets on the same day each week for one-hour and sessions typically run 8-10 weeks.

    Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!

    Qualifications:

    Some experience working with groups of elementary-aged (4-12) children.

    Excellent verbal communication skills.

    Must be available at least three weekdays after 1 pm.

    Must have a reliable vehicle. Driving is required. Travel is required as you work at different schools each work day and have equipment to carry.)

    A negative TB Test and an FBI/DOJ Live-scan is required (can complete during orientation).

    Have a fun & outgoing personality.

    Able to learn independently and also proactively ask questions as needed.

    We train you in the curriculum and provide all materials. Mad Science classes follow the school calendar and are presented year-round.

    Compensation starts at $20 per program hour. Total hours vary and depends on your schedule and flexibility. This is a part-time, non-traditional, and rewarding role if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle. This position also has advancement opportunities.
