Job Summary

We have openings in both our after-school science and art programs for on-site programs. All of our programs follow local and CDC guidelines for COVID-19 safety.

At Mad Science we are having a blast. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about. As a Mad Scientist you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Our Fall program is a creative invention program where kids are encouraged to solve problems through their own ingenuity. In our Spring program kids explore energy, forces, flight and even robots! Mad Science is the world's leading provider of science programs for elementary-aged children.

At ART-ventures for Kids we introduce children to a world of creativity and expression through themed, project-based after-school art sessions. With our imaginative curricula and inspiring instructors, we encourage creative spirits and imaginations. We nurture creativity and the process of critical thinking, as children experience a variety of art techniques, tools, and original materials. We inspire children to interpret art in their own unique way as they explore artist's styles, artforms, culture and history.

We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct our programs during after-school hours throughout the school year. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher, nor do you need to be a science major or artist. For those with some theatrical/performance experience or expertise, there is the possibility to take on additional work as a stage show, birthday party and other event instructor-performer.

Responsibilities:Facilitating an after-school enrichment program using a pre-set curriculum at locations typically < 40 minutes from your location. Each session is a high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on class that meets for one-hour each week for 8-12 weeks.You will be teaching elementary-aged children basic principles of art and/or science using guided methods and procedures.You will typically teach 4 afternoons per week maximum, with some 5-day schedules available as you gain experience with our programs.

Qualifications:Some experience working with GROUPS of elementary age (4-12) children (such as teacher, enrichment instructor, volunteer or camp counselor).Must be available at least two weekdays M-Th after 2 pm and be willing to travel (paid) to multiple nearby schools/locations. Must have a reliable carMust be vaccinated against COVID-19

Some college experience preferred. Degrees and/or graduate degrees a plus.Have an engaging & outgoing personalityNote: Full-time teachers and substitutes typically can not get to our after-school programs in time as you must be on location just before the elementary school day ends. Unless you are teaching in a school where you can leave by 2:30 or can devote the same 3 days each week to Mad Science exclusively we are unable to consider you for an after-school position.

We train you in the curriculum, and provide all materials. Our classes follow the school calendar and are presented throughout the school year. Our events happen year round and we also conduct week-long summer programs at many locations all summer. This is part time and rewarding work if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle.
