Mad Science is the world’s leading provider of science based education and entertainment. If you have a desire to “spark imaginative learning” in elementary school kids, consider becoming a true Mad Scientist!

We are currently hiring seasonal, part-time INSTRUCTORS for our After-School Science Enrichment Programs. These programs offer children fun, hands-on experiments, science based activities and a take-home project to reinforce the scientific principals explored during the class. If you are interested in honing your classroom management skills while gaining teaching experience and having an absolute blast, we are the place for you!

What are Mad Science After-School Science Enrichment Programs?

Our “edutaining” classes take place at various schools, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 1 and 5pm, and usually run for 8 full weeks. Time varies per school.

During the hour long sessions, the students get a take-home project to both reinforce the science concepts they explored and also encourage kids to share what they learn with their parents.

Our programs are designed to teach scientific concepts in a way that kids K-6th grade can understand while having fun!

Position Information:

Positions Available: Seasonal Part-Time Instructor Only (2-6 classes per week) Starting rate $25 per class so 5 classes a week could make you $500 per month. The more availability you have the higher the pay scale.

Travel: Mad Science will monetarily compensate you for all travel beyond 30 miles per day round trip. Instructors are needed to teach hands-on science classes in and around the following cities (San Jose, Morgan Hill, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Evergreen, Campbell, Saratoga and Los Gatos)

Training: We will provide all curriculum and training (training pay is $50 for an 8 week completed season)

Supplies: You will be issued a lab coat, class kit (which includes all materials needed to complete the class) and a curriculum manual to serve as reference material.

Requirements to become a Mad Scientist:

Must pass a criminal background check AND TB Test

Must have a reliable car with valid drivers license, current registration and insurance

Must be 18 years or older and qualified to work in the US.

Must have experience working with groups of elementary age (4-12) children (such as CCD instructor, camp counselor or sports coach).

Must be available at least two weekdays after 1 pm.

Must be able to lift 30lbs

Must have a fun & outgoing personality and good group management skills

Must have a passion for science (degree not required) and for the education of children.
