The Job **************** We're looking for a creative & resourceful social media-savvy person who loves cats, has a knack for writing, and has the right disposition to thrive in a customer service & community manager-oriented role. You will report directly to the owner & creative director for this position. ***This job is part-time (20 hr a week commitment) and can be done mostly remote. Requires 3 hrs per week onsite at our office (Westlake / Austin, TX) during core production & shipping hours - ideally between 10am-2pm (for sourcing behind-the-scenes + product related content). Requirements **************** --Must love cats & "get" cat people culture - this is the #1 requirement in order to excel at this job. Strong preference for a candidate who is already (or was) a cat parent in order to truly be able to write from a genuine & personal place of understanding of this community's unique perspective, humor, lingo & lifestyle. It is NOT interchangeable with dog owner culture even if there is obviously some overlap. If you do not understand the difference already, this job is not for you. --Excellent writing & copy-editing skills. Must have a knack for conversation & storytelling - whether it's coming up with an engaging caption for a social media post, a question / poll posed in an IG story, an informative blog post, or writing a kind, respectful and professional DM reply to a customer needing customer service help. --Must be able to consistently reflect our brand's voice - we're looking for an articulate communicator who writes with a mix of: confidence, originality, a passion for the subject matter (i.e. cats, design themes, handmade artisan craft), a sense of humor and intelligence. --Proven track record of creating social content, specifically on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. (Pinterest a plus). If you haven't done this type of work professionally before, you must be able to share / prove your experience in posting content for personal accounts. --Content creation - although your primary role will be on the writing side, not art direction or photography work, you will still need to be resourceful with coming up with content for stories & "behind the scenes" reels. Basic photography skills & familiarity with shooting / editing video clips are a must. Proficiency in Photoshop preferred. --Though not primary to this job's function, having some design intuition when it comes to handling composition, layout, fonts & colors (for setting up IG stories, reels, etc) so that the overall look appears intentional, on-brand and not just randomly & inconsistently thrown together will be helpful. --Must be able to work onsite at the office (located in Westlake / Austin) 1x a week for 3 hrs to capture photos & video content for posting on social media related to behind-the-scenes activity, which might include production & shipping process activities, product highlight reels, new release sneak peeks, etc. --Must have flexibility in regard to non-traditional work hours for handling social media communication needs that arise outside of typical business hours (weekends / evenings / major holidays). We'll establish an agreed-upon schedule for periodic check-ins during these "after hours" periods so you're not in constant on-mode. --Customer service and empathy-oriented mindset is must. Must be able to remain calm, cool, and professional when the occasional difficult or annoying DMs & comments arise. Know when & how to properly respond in these cases. What's In It For You? *********************** --$400 Per Week (i.e. $800 Paid Bi-Weekly via Direct Deposit) - Based on 20 hrs a week @ $20 rate per hour --W-2 Part-time Job / not contract --You'll be working for a fun, lovable brand (with lots of beautiful content) in a high-growth industry (pet products) doing real, non-soul-sucking creative work --You'll be given REAL responsibilities that matter - not only will you sharpen your existing skills, they will help you develop new ones. Your work will have a direct impact on our company's growth. No pointless busy work. --Valuable & PAID career-building experience for anyone who wants to move up in a digital marketing, advertising / PR, communications, e-commerce or design-related field.
