    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Tool Room Machinist constructs fixtures, cores, trim punches, gages, robot jaws, die cast machine parts, rework shot rods, turn plunger tips, etc. as needed to support production needs. Maintain assigned equipment by performing normal maintenance and scheduled TPM’s.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Setup and operate all conventional tool room equipment.
    • Basic setup, offline programming, and operation of CNC – Mazak (Lathe and Mill), Mikron Mill, Mitsubishi Wire EDM, 2 axis mills (EZ Trak).
    • Troubleshooting production problems and make repairs.
    • Assemble casting dies, troubleshoot dies that are not working, and repair dies that are on the die cast machine.
    • Use AutoVue and UG/UX Software to view designs.
    • Create and follow setup and operator instructions when operating the CNC equipment.
    • Create Maintenance Work Requisitions.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Climate controlled tool room, occasional exposure to production area (high heat, fumes, noise), risk of cuts and burns.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Physical exertion required with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the facility.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
    • Associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technics or similar program or 3+ years’ experience as a machinist in lieu of degree.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate in comprehensive English.
    • Basic mathematical skills such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to understand fractions, along with a working knowledge of Metric to English dimensional conversions.
    • Able to read and understand prints (blueprints, product drawings, die cast, and trim die prints).
    • Able to use and understand, micrometers, electronic indicators, dial calipers and other precision gauges.
    • Demonstrate leadership abilities, which include instructing, training, monitoring, and coaching.

    $20 - $25 / hr
