    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for HR-related duties on an operational level, while supporting the Director of Human Resources in the completion of HR functions. This position will be responsible for employee relations, investigations, administration, and assist with training, benefits, and policy compliance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Applies fundamental business and Human Resources concepts to assignments and carries out the company’s Human Resources policies, programs, plans, practices, and procedures.
    • Administers day-to-day employee relations, maintaining positive relationships, and fostering open communication of business information and policies.
    • Administers day to day Human Resources activities including processing terminations, attendance, and other corrective actions.
    • Handles employment and employee relations activities as an employee advocate and company representative.
    • Assists supervisors in monitoring employee attendance and disciplinary problems, including investigation and counseling.
    • Assists supervisors to ensure effective and efficient use of HRIS.
    • Assists in the implementation of HR related policies and programs.
    • Generate reports and background information for corporate and government reporting. Ex: Month End HR statistics, EEO-1, Unemployment Insurance, etc.
    • Maintains a strict standard of confidentiality in handling sensitive Company information, reports, and correspondence.
    • Participates in new hire orientations, effectively communicating information regarding policies and procedures.
    • Performs and completes special projects and all other duties that may be assigned by the Director of HR.
    • Works closely with and provides backup to other HR staff as needed.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Manufacturing office conditions with frequent visitation to a heavy manufacturing environment. On occasion; irregular work hours due to the 24-hour manufacturing schedule. Must be able to travel between 3 facilities within the greater Madison/Sun Prairie area.

    PHYSICAL

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and work. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift to 40 pounds. Activities require a significant amount of sitting at office and work desks and in front of a computer monitor.

    General office environment however must be able to regularly walk throughout all the manufacturing facilities.

    **EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE **

    Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Field preferred
    • Three (3+) years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
    • Bi-lingual, Spanish speaking preferred.

    JOB SKILLS

    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Knowledge of HRIS systems, UKG preferred.
    • Ability to be flexible and able to function comfortably in a fast paced, constantly changing, and ambiguous environment while maintaining a positive team environment.
    • Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.
    • Comprehensive understanding of all HR areas; including policies, benefits, training, and employee relations.
    • A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills with high ethical standards and a positive professional image.
    • Must have the ability to handle multiple project deadlines in a confidential environment while working with frequent interruptions.
    • Must possess a high level of tact and integrity due to access to confidential employee, employer, and related information.
