With over 120 years of history, we are proud of our culture. We are currently in the process of adding Tool Room Technicians for our overnight (11pm-7am) and afternoon (3pm-11pm) shifts.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The role involves troubleshooting die cast dies that are not meeting design specifications, making minor corrections to dies that do not produce parts as per prints (replacing cores, date codes or ejector pins, etc.), and assembling/disassembling casting dies while carrying out regular/preventative scheduled maintenance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Assembling casting dies.
    • Identifying and resolving issues with dies.
    • Carrying out repairs to dies on die-cast machines.
    • Creating maintenance work requisitions for repairs to die maintenance equipment, die-related issues such as hydraulic cylinder fixes, electrical work, etc.
    • Reading product/die-cast/trim die prints and using measuring tools (Micrometers, Depth Micrometers, Dial Indicators, Calipers, etc.).
    • Using AutoVue to view designs.
    • Adjusting limit switches and final fitting slide(s) and slide locks.
    • Operating ejector pin grinder, hydraulic cavity extraction equipment, and hydraulic power unit used for final inspection of hydraulic cylinder settings.
    • Maintaining a tidy and orderly work environment.
    • Carrying out any other related duties assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    The job requires working in a factory environment with potential exposure to smoke, heat, fumes, noise, risk of cuts, bruises, burns and crushing injuries.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The work may involve lifting objects of up to 70 pounds, and regular sitting, standing, walking and bending.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 3+ years of experience in die-cast or equivalent trade.
    • Good understanding of die casting and the operation of casting dies.
    • Must be able to get MKC forklift and crane certification.
    • Other key characteristics: Mechanically inclined, self-motivated, good communication skills, and a team player.
