    JOB DESCRIPTION

    We are building products and platforms with a lot of moving parts -- encompassing front end, back end, and middleware -- and covering desktop, mobile, VR, and AR. To ensure robustness and quality in everything we build, we need a skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design, create, and own automated testing and test infrastructure.

    Youre a pragmatist, a problem solver, and a good communicator. You know how to select the right approach for the job. You will be a founding member of a growing team within Magnopus, so you will not only ensure we get good results up front, but you will also have an opportunity to set best practices that will serve us for years to come. Because of this, we are looking for someone with a substantial track record of success and a growth mindset. As needs evolve, the test infrastructure will be ready to evolve as well.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Own the design, creation, maintenance, and evolution of test infrastructure encompassing unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and other forms of automated quality assurance. If youre ready to be the one to make key technology decisions -- decisions backed by evidence and a strong rationale -- this is your opportunity
    • Help engineers across multiple teams understand, use, and contribute to test infrastructure, so that it doesnt all sit on your shoulders alone
    • Troubleshoot build failures, test failures, and other faults at all levels of our software stack
    • Partner with QA to identify opportunities for automation or diagnostic tools to make manual testing more efficient and effective
    • Assist development and QA teams in black box and white box testing of client application features

    REQUIREMENTS

    BASELINE

    • Great communication skills and desire to work in a collaborative team environment
    • Strong debugging skills and an insatiable desire to fix problems
    • Strong programming and scripting skills in the context of build and test frameworks
    • Close familiarity with NUnit, Visual Studio Test Tools, Unity Test Runner, or similar frameworks
    • Previous experience (+4 years) with software testing within a technical industry, especially in the context of video games, technology driven media/entertainment, or AR/VR
    • Previous experience (+2 years) overall SDET and/or development experience, ideally within video games or AR/VR

    BONUS POINTS

    • Knowledge of multiple programming languages, especially C#, C++, and Python
    • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or other game engines
    • Experience with profiling tools
    • Experience with Docker
    • Experience with QA methodology and tools
    • Experience working with globally distributed teams
    • Have shipped at least one commercially released application as part of a team, preferably through a full development cycle
    • Demonstrated experience in test planning, test design, test strategy, and test execution
