Job overview:
A large Manufacturing Plant is searching for a “Tooling and Equipment Engineer” to design, develop, and maintains the tools, equipment, and machinery used in our production processes.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Design and Development: Creating detailed designs for tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment necessary for production. This often involves using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create precise models.
- Prototyping and Testing: Building prototypes of tools and equipment to test their functionality, efficiency, and safety. This step is crucial for identifying potential issues and making necessary adjustments before full-scale production.
- Maintenance and Upgrades: Ensuring that existing tools and equipment are well-maintained and functioning correctly. This includes regular inspections, troubleshooting, and making necessary repairs or upgrades to improve performance and extend the lifespan of the equipment.
- Collaboration with Production Teams: Working closely with production managers, operators, and other engineers to understand the requirements of the manufacturing process and ensure that the tools and equipment meet these needs.
- Process Improvement: Analyzing production processes to identify areas where new tools or equipment can improve efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance product quality. Implementing these improvements often involves reengineering existing tools or designing new ones.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring that all tools and equipment comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines. This involves staying updated with the latest regulations and incorporating them into the design and maintenance processes.
- Documentation and SOPs: Maintaining detailed records of designs, tests, maintenance activities, and upgrades. Provide a clear operating procedure for the machine’s operation, as well as maintenance schedules.
- Installation and relocation: Working with cross functional teams to ensure that all new machinery, as well as those we’re relocating, are ready to be properly installed upon arrival/relocation. This includes all electrical and air needs, designating space for it, all IT needs, etc.
