    Job Summary:

    A luxury hotel in downtown Portland is seeking a Restaurant Manager to oversee all aspects of the restaurant and room service dining operation. The ultimate responsibility of the Restaurant Manager is to ensure a quality product for the guests while controlling costs. To accomplish this, the Restaurant Manager is expected to market ideas to promote business, reduce employee turnover, maintain payroll budget, maintain sales/revenue budget, and increase productivity while keeping quality consistent.

    The Restaurant Manager oversees all aspects of the daily operations of the Restaurant and is responsible for hiring, supervising, scheduling, coordinating, and training for bartenders, servers, bussers, hosts and runners. You will order and stock equipment, coordinate food and drink promotions, and assure that the department operates within approved budget to control costs. In addition, you will assist in HR functions, including preparing weekly payroll and tip distribution sheets and weekly staff schedules.

    Hours of the restaurant are breakfast (7a-11a) and dinner (5p-9 or 10p) and the Restaurant Manager can determine their own schedule (while keeping in mind business needs). This is an exempt full-time position working approximately 45+/- hours per week. Management responsibilities are to oversee 1-2 supervisors and 10-15 employees. 

    Qualifications:

    • A positive, people-first attitude--the hospitality industry runs on service with a smile

    • High school diploma or GED and 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred

    • Valid ServSafe and TIPS certification preferred

    • Solid knowledge of alcohol, wine and food preparation and service

    • Proficiency with computers

    • Flexibility of schedule and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

    • Good team work and ability to work with others

    • Be comfortable working with people to solve problems in fast-paced situations
