Job Summary:
The Hotel Cook is the right-hand person to the chef, who relies on you to ‘get it right’ and take pride in making that happen. You’re a valued member of the team and you all work together in the kitchen to make great food for your guests. As a Cook, you will carefully and safely prepare food according to chef direction and as ordered by the server. This is also a great career-starting opportunity in hospitality, as this international hotel management company promotes from within.
This historic hotel in Portland Maine’s Old Port is looking for a motivated active listener with a passion for the culinary arts. This hotel restaurant specializes in serving creative cuisine in a casual dining atmosphere. Sample menu items include shrimp and grits, smoked cauliflower, heirloom tomato BLT, roasted garlic mac & cheese, spiced labneh spread, and beet raita. The restaurant serves brunch, lunch, and dinner, and is open daily between 6:30am and 10pm.
This is a full-time position and will focus on the dinner service, so shifts will be in the evenings.
Qualifications:
A positive, people-first attitude--the hospitality industry runs on service with a smile.
Minimum one year of food service or related experience required.
Ability to operate, maintain, and properly clean culinary equipment.
Have full mobility and ability to lift, carry, and pull up to 40 pounds.
High school or equivalent education is helpful.
