    SUMMARY

    Northline Seafoods is a growing, innovative seafood processing company headquartered in the Fairhaven neighborhood of Bellingham, WA. We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain a wide variety of machinery and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate has experience working with engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machinery in a fast-paced environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for all systems and equipment.
    • Observe and listen to operating equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
    • Dismantle machinery to access and replace faulty components.
    • Repair or replace defective parts as needed.
    • Install functional and structural mechanical components.
    • Lubricate and clean equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance.
    • Test and adjust equipment to meet operational standards.
    • Initiate purchase orders for necessary parts and equipment.
    • Repair and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
    • Maintain adherence to plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
    • Support fabrication and facilities projects as needed.
    • Contribute to the general upkeep and cleanliness of the facility.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
    • TIG welding experience.
    • Background in construction or general contracting.
    • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or seafood processing facility.
    • Comfortable with hands-on, physical work and a “jack of all trades” approach.
    • Willingness to assist with all tasks, including cleaning and equipment sanitation.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The Maintenance Mechanic position operates primarily in a land-based production facility located in Bellingham, WA.

    This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems within the facility through proper predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance procedures. Employees must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and navigate an industrial facility for extended periods. They must also be able to climb steep ramps and stairs on the freezer barge as needed and occasionally work in confined or elevated spaces. The position requires standard use of computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. The work environment may include exposure to wet or cold conditions, loud noise, dust, moving machinery, and temperature fluctuations depending on the season. The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
