    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Mechanic – Packaging is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing packaging and processing equipment to support safe and efficient production operations. This role performs advanced mechanical and electrical work, including preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and fabrication, while minimizing downtime and ensuring operational reliability.

    Key Responsibilities

    Equipment Maintenance & Repair

    • Perform preventive maintenance on packaging, screening, and grinding equipment.

    • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

    • Maintain conveyors, motors, belts, chains, bearings, and production machinery.

    • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete timely repairs to minimize downtime. Preventive Maintenance

    • Execute lubrication schedules for all moving equipment components.

    • Perform routine servicing, including inspection of spray systems and equipment components.

    • Conduct scheduled maintenance on motors and facility equipment.

    • Maintain and replace consumable parts as needed.

    Technical Expertise

    • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including AC motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

    • Adjust, remove, and install conveyor systems and related components.

    • Perform welding and fabrication using MIG and arc welding equipment.

    • Operate cutting tools, including oxy-acetylene and plasma equipment.

    • Assist with equipment modifications, rebuilds, and installations.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Experience with packaging or industrial processing equipment preferred.

    Technical Skills

    • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.

    • Experience with:

    o Motors, conveyors, and automated equipment

    o Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

    o Welding and fabrication

    o Preventive maintenance programs

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs with or without assistance.

    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working around machinery.

    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
