Position Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting production efficiency, safety, and quality within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position collaborates closely with leadership, production teams, quality assurance personnel, and fellow maintenance staff to ensure that all facility and processing equipment operates at optimal performance. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing stainless steel food processing machinery and facility support systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair production and facility equipment to ensure reliable operation.
- Conduct setup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on machinery.
- Prepare and configure machines for scheduled production runs.
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical diagnostics and repairs on equipment.
- Interpret manuals, technical drawings, and work orders to carry out maintenance procedures.
- Diagnose issues, replace parts, and make necessary adjustments for optimal performance.
- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic instruments, and material handling equipment.
- Operate and maintain forklifts and other facility vehicles in a safe manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
- Support production team with changeovers and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify equipment inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and comply with all reporting requirements.
- Respond to urgent repair requests and perform tasks with a strong sense of urgency.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3–4 years of relevant experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of food manufacturing or industrial equipment.
- Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation and maintenance schedules.
- Experience operating forklifts; certification preferred.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
- Full-time; Monday through Friday, with potential weekend, holiday, and overtime work based on production demands.
- Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures (e.g., freezer environments at -20°F).
- Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
- Regular, punctual attendance is essential.
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to food safety and quality.
- Accurately complete required documentation.
- Report any suspected food safety or quality concerns to management immediately.
- Attend and participate in all required food safety and quality training sessions.
