Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team. We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Maintenance Supervisor to lead our shift operations in a fast-paced, unionized food manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience and a strong background in both process and equipment maintenance, driving significant improvements in equipment reliability and operational efficiency. You will manage diverse technical and non-technical teams, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
Direct and inspire a diverse team of technical staff, non-technical personnel, and contractors on the assigned shift.
Manage daily team meetings, delegate tasks, and oversee the execution of maintenance and repair plans.
Actively foster a positive and productive relationship with the union, professionally resolving any conflicts.
Build team capability by providing targeted training, coaching Shift Leads, and supporting the recruitment and interviewing of new mechanics.
Oversee talent management and development for PM Technicians.
Operational Excellence & Reliability:
Lead all aspects of Safety, Quality, and Line Efficiency for the shift.
Spearhead the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) improvement agenda, making rapid, safe decisions during unplanned stops to minimize downtime.
Conduct timely post-intervention feedback and documentation to drive continuous improvement.
Proactively evaluate, lead, and refine overall equipment reliability plans, strategies, equipment performance, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) effectiveness.
Ensure on-time line start-ups, prioritizing end-to-end line readiness based on production schedules.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) Management:
Lead the execution of all scheduled and unplanned maintenance programs (e.g., Run-time, If-down-do, and PMs) within the assigned shift.
Prioritize and execute all PMs related to critical Safety and Quality abnormalities.
Provide on-time feedback from PM execution to accurately update and refine plans within the SAP system.
Ensure strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for all tooling and workshop management.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of direct supervisory experience managing maintenance/engineering/production staff in a 24/7 manufacturing setting.
Extensive technical expertise in process and equipment maintenance, preferably gained within the food manufacturing industry.
Required experience working with and managing union employees.
Deep end-to-end operation and process understanding to inform strong decision-making in any business situation.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred OR 5 years of equivalent experience in a relevant technical field. Non-degreed candidates with a strong background in the food industry will be considered.
Must be open to working a 12-hour shift (6:00 AM–6:00 PM or 6:00 PM–6:00 AM) on a 4-day on - 4-day off rotational schedule.
