    The Fort Walton Beach Housing Authority (FWBHA) has been serving the Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa County community since 1968. We provide safe, affordable housing and rental assistance to families, seniors, and veterans through programs such as Public Housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, and Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH). In addition, we own and operate a workforce housing community, Church Street Apartments (12 units), offering market-based rental options.

    What We Are Looking For:

    We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Maintenance Technician/Groundskeeper to help maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of our housing communities. This position supports the maintenance team by performing routine groundskeeping duties, custodial work, and minor maintenance and repair tasks across multiple Authority properties.

    The ideal candidate is hands-on, reliable, and takes pride in maintaining clean and well-kept environments for residents and the community.

    In this role, you will:

    · Maintain exterior grounds by removing litter, blowing leaves, and keeping walkways, parking areas, and common spaces clean.

    · Clean common areas, including hallways, stairwells, breezeways, laundry rooms, and community spaces.

    · Operate equipment such as blowers, pressure washers, and basic hand tools to maintain property appearance.

    · Perform minor maintenance tasks such as painting, unclogging toilets, clearing drains, and tightening fixtures.

    · Assist maintenance staff with unit turnovers, including cleaning and preparing units for new residents.

    · Help identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or property damage to the maintenance team.

    · Support general upkeep of buildings and outdoor areas across multiple Authority properties.

    · Interact with residents professionally and courteously while working in housing communities.

    · Assist with other maintenance and property upkeep tasks as assigned.

    What You Need:

    · High school diploma or GED required.

    · 1-3 years of experience in property maintenance, custodial services, landscaping, or general labor preferred.

    · Ability to safely operate basic tools and equipment used in maintenance and groundskeeping work.

    · Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks.

    · Completion of HUD Uniform Physical Condition Standards (UPCS) training within 18 months of hire.

    · Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and vendors.

    · Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and simple software systems to complete work-related tasks.

    · Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between properties.

    · Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
