Tesoro Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their team at a property in Cedar Rapids, IA (52401). The ideal candidate will have 2 years’ experience in residential maintenance, have experience with unit turns, have knowledge of basic maintenance, be self-motivated, be able to organize multiple tasks throughout the day and is self-sufficient. No special certifications are required for this role. This role is contract to hire (30-90 days before conversion).

This property was built in 1927, 96 income restricted units and 12 stories.

Salary: $24/hour DOQ. This role is contract to hire (30-90 days before conversion).

Schedule: Monday – Friday 830am – 5pm – must be available for apartment turns and emergency response/on-call upon conversion.

Emergency Response Schedule: Every 8 – 12 weeks, you will be required to work company on-call further information will be provided upon conversion (30-90 days before conversion).

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

• Preventative building maintenance and unit turns.
• Maintain the grounds as assigned which may include trash pick-up, shoveling, and sweeping curb/dumpster area, maintaining landscape beds and other areas.
• Responding to daily work orders
• Preparation and/or completion of apartment or unit turns.
• Install, repair (including soldering) and maintain various plumbing; heating and air conditioning fixtures; perform metal fabrication and welding.
• Installation and minor repairs of appliances (e.g. washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwashers, etc.).
• Troubleshoot maintenance issues, diagnose problems, replace and/or repair parts, test and make necessary adjustments to ensure issues are resolved.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs as needed.
• Complete minor work orders such as snake toilets, snake drains, clear slow draining tubs, adjust/replace door closure, remove/replace caulking and replace locks, deadbolts, and passage locks.
• Complete basic plumbing work orders such as repair leaking faucets, replace faucets, and replace different components of toilets such as flapper, toilet handle and ballcocks.
• Always demonstrate courteous and efficient customer service.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 2 years’ experience in residential maintenance - multi-family experience is required.
• Experience in unit turns.
• Experience with preventative maintenance as well as work orders.
• Be able to pass a background check before employment.
• Have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation as on-call will be applicable after conversion.
