    Job Description

    The person assigned this position will be the site specialist for all raw meat processing equipment. This position will provide Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and Predictive Maintenance to industrial machinery and equipment used in support of and direct manufacturing of Jack Links Protein snacks in New Glarus, WI. The ideal candidate performs all work safely and complies with all food safety rules in the performance of duties.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to the following:

    General

    • Follow all of Jack Link’s values in every action and model these values among fellow Jack Links team members.
    • Lead in Safety, and follow all OSHA and company policies and procedures while working at Link Snacks, Inc.
    • Perform Preventive Maintenance Activities on all raw meat formulation and stuffing equipment. Preventive Maintenance activities include inspection, lubrication, and rebuild of equipment.
    • Perform Corrective Maintenance on all raw meat formulation and stuffing equipment. Corrective Maintenance includes troubleshooting, testing, calibration, repair, and rebuild.
    • Perform Predictive Maintenance functions. Predictive Maintenance includes infrared scan, ultrasonic testing, vibration testing on all equipment as assigned.
    • Perform equipment start-up assembly and shut down disassembly as required.
    • Read and interpret P&ID’s (Process and Instrumentation diagrams).
    • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics.
    • Troubleshoot and repair single phase (120v, 208/230 VAC) and Three Phase (240v, 480 VAC) electrical circuits, and lighting circuits (120v, 277v, 480 3 Phase).
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment to include motors, motor starters, start and stop push buttons, contactors, contact blocks, plugs, receptacles, cables, and wiring.
    • Troubleshoot and repair food processing equipment to include meat grinders, mixers pumps, lifts and hydraulic lifts, and all stuffing machinery.
    • Safely operate various shop machines and tools including a band saw, end mill, lathe, grinder, etc.
    • Maintain all areas of the shop, powerhouse areas, and the interior/exterior of the plant.
    • Facilitate accurate inventory control by identifying, ordering, and signing out parts.
    • Operate forklifts, powered and unpowered pallet jacks, scissors lifts, and boom lifts.
    • Serve as the point person for daily boiler and compressor maintenance and inspections.
    • Account for all work time by accurately completing work orders using the CMMS (Proteus)
    • Participate in shift exchanges, pass downs, meetings, and training.
    • Follow all plant work and attendance policies.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as necessary.

    S afety:

    • Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards; LOTO, wear PPE, and maintain safety equipment.
    • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area. (5S)
    • Immediately report all accidents and deficiencies to a supervisor or manager.
    • Ensure safety devices are installed and working properly.
    • Ensure all employees follow and adhere to safety policies.
    • Complete all safety training on time.

    Food Safety:

    • Follow all applicable USDA, FDA, and plant food safety regulations and policies.
    • Follow all SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and Site guidance when making repairs.

    Schedule:

    Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Education: High school diploma or GED

    Required Experience: 5-10 years of related industrial maintenance experience, formal school training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred :

    • Experience in CPG Food industry maintenance.
    • Experience in Facility Maintenance (Plumbing, Electrical Distribution, Water Supply, Sewer, Boilers, Air Compressors, HVAC)
    • Troubleshooting PLC and frequency drives.
    • Welding (both stick, flux core, MIG, TIG and sanitary).

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and/or maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine breakdown, preventive maintenance and other maintenance related reports and correspondence.
    • Intermediate verbal communication skills in English.
    • Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Knowledge of the materials, tools, methods, and techniques used in the mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic trades (i.e., welding, tap measure, band saw, lathe, caliper, micrometer, etc.).
    • Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and with teams
    • Perform work as a team member of a high performing team. Collaborative and Cooperative
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and team members
    • Desired attributes are multi-tasking abilities, attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Additional Information

    The hiring range for this role is $23.42 - $35.13 Hourly. Actual wages will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards.     The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
