    Role: Performs repairs to all campus buildings with an emphasis on carpentry work using both wood and metal methods, sheetrock and painting repairs. Assists the other trades as needed.

    The salary range of $17.40 to $26.09 hourly.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 40% Performs basic carpentry work as needed, general sheetrock repair, interior and exterior painting, general maintenance and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout the campus. 40% Assists the other trades as requested. 15% General maintenance duties will include moving furniture, boxes, etc., setting up for and/or working special events, building checks over holidays when buildings are unoccupied, and on call duty. Will perform routine preventative maintenance (greasing equipment, oiling motors, changing belts, changing air filters, changing light bulbs, etc.). Attends training sessions required by the supervisor 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

    Adheres to safety policies and procedures.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: Two years of similar or related experience.

    Education: A high school education or GED.

    Interpersonal Skills: Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts, usually within the department. Contact usually involving routine, non-sensitive issues. External contacts are limited to incidental contacts with visitors, or no contact.

    Other Skills: Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Contact usually involving routine, non-sensitive issues withstand extreme hot and cold working conditions, loud noise environments; lift 100 pounds; walk and/or stand for long periods of time, and climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Working in the boiler room requires being exposed to non-weather wet, humid conditions and extreme heat; working inside freezers requires being exposed to extreme non-weather cold. Position also requires work in high, precarious places, exposure to noxious odors, loud noises, and electrical shock. As needed and can include some weekend hours. On-call duty on a rotation basis approximately one weekend every month. Working special events (graduation, homecoming, etc.,) is required, and 2nd shift as requested. May be required/requested to travel to off-campus sites as needed.

    Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computers, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity.

    Work Environment:| Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as weather, body fluids, toxic laboratory & industrial chemicals, or confined, dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
