    Maintenance Tech FT Nights

    Job Summary: Under the direction of the Hospitality Services Director, Facilities Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of routine to skilled general preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration and modification of building equipment, and facilities.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This includes but not limited to the following:

    · Inspects equipment and facility for proper operation and working conditions, maintains routine equipment inspections and repairs as necessary, adjusts, dissembles and repairs or replaces parts or components and tests for proper operation.

    · Reports more serious problems to his supervisor for further instructions or maintenance scheduling.

    · Uses snakes, augers or plungers to open clogged drains.

    · Troubleshoots and replaces TV’s, remote controls, nurse call lights, etc.

    · Proficiently uses standard hand tools, voltmeter, and amp meter.

    · Performs a variety of routine manual duties as required, such as repairs and assembling carts and furniture, replacing fluorescent ballasts and tubes, cleaning and lubricating motors and other machinery.

    · Clear sink and grease traps, assembles non-medical equipment.

    · Sometimes required to move supplies, furniture and equipment, removing trash and scrap materials, etc.

    · Conducts routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections to ensure that services are maintained without interruption.

    Required Experience:

    Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.


    Maintains regulatory requirements

    Maintains patient confidentiality at all times

    Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.


    Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized time system correctly.

    Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion

    Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled

    Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner

    Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices

    Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department

    Regulatory Requirements:

    · High school graduate, technical or trade school preferred

    · Six months experience in general maintenance preferred.

    · General knowledge of plant maintenance.

    · Knowledge of tools and their use.

    · Knowledge of equipment used in hospitals.

    · Effective written and verbal communication skills in English

    · Work with little or no supervision, take verbal instructions.

  • Qualifications

     QUALIFICATIONS

    • Completion of recognized Nurse Assistant certification program 
    • Minimum of one-year direct patient care experience in an institutional, hospice or home care setting 
    • Skilled in the proper technique for lifting and transferring patients
    • Ability to read, write and follow instructions and document care given
    • Understands Hospice philosophy and needs of terminally ill
    • Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices
    • Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene
    • Excellent observation and communication skills
    • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary setting
    • Sufficient documentation of having passed a skills test and written/oral test demonstrating those competencies identified in OBRA-87, 42 C.F.R. Sections 484.36 and 484.4. In lieu of such documentation, a newly hired HHA must demonstrate skills and written/oral competency prior to working independently with a patient
