The Maintenance Technician at Patria Church must be an attentive, reliable, and service-oriented individual who supports the safety, functionality, and daily operation of Patria Church, United Christian Academy (UCA), and Abundant Preschool of Learning (APL). The individual must demonstrate consistent awareness of campus needs, sound judgment, and the ability to identify, document, and report facility concerns accurately. The Maintenance Technician must be able to appropriately apply basic maintenance and safety principles in a variety of situations and use discretion when determining issues that require immediate escalation to the Facilities Manager or additional support from approved contractors. The individual must stay attentive throughout the day, responding to work orders, facility concerns, and communication from the Facilities Manager, school offices, and ministry departments in a timely and professional manner. Maintenance Technicians are required to complete work orders accurately and ensure that facility concerns are communicated through the proper reporting channels. Maintenance Technicians serve as a vital part of creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming campus environment. Through their conduct, work ethic, and presence, they help maintain the excellence and stewardship expected across all Patria Church properties. The individual must communicate respectfully with students, families, staff, and guests and maintain a professional and ministry-minded presence in every interaction. Each role carries the conviction that every family matters to God and plays a part in advancing His purpose through the local church, according to Ephesians 3:14–15: “I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.” The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Facilities Manager.
Work Schedule and Daily Rhythm
Maintenance Technicians support the daily function and readiness of Patria Church, United Christian Academy (UCA), and Abundant Preschool of Learning (APL) by completing routine maintenance tasks, addressing facility needs, and assisting with room setups and campus preparation. During ministry nights, school operations, VBS, SPRINTS, graduations, and conferences, technicians help ensure environments remain safe, functional, and prepared for high-volume activity. When campus activity is low, technicians prioritize preventative maintenance, facility checks, and minor repairs, responding promptly to communication from the Facilities Manager, school offices, and ministry departments. Maintenance Technicians must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and ministry events as operational needs require, with shift assignments subject to change based on staffing and campus demands.

Facility Maintenance & Campus Operations:
Performs routine maintenance tasks across Patria Church, United Christian Academy (UCA), and Abundant Preschool of Learning (APL), ensuring classrooms, offices, restrooms, playgrounds, and ministry spaces remain functional and safe.
Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions.
Completes basic repairs such as light bulb replacement, tightening loose hardware, patching minor wall damage, assembling furniture, adjusting fixtures, and supporting simple paint touch-ups.
Sets up and resets rooms for school and ministry activities, including furniture movement, equipment placement, and event preparation.
Conducts daily walkthroughs to identify facility concerns, hazards, or repair needs and reports them promptly to the Facilities Manager.
Safety Awareness & Hazard Identification:
Observes all campus areas for maintenance-related hazards such as leaks, damaged equipment, unsafe surfaces, or malfunctioning fixtures.
Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repair, to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices, health and safety.
Reports urgent issues immediately and supports temporary safety measures until proper repairs can be completed.
Operate a variety of machinery, equipment and tools including saws, router, drills, sanders, planners, drill presses and various hand tools.
Follows all safety guidelines when using ladders, tools, cleaning materials, and maintenance equipment.
Ensures tools, supplies, and materials are secured at all times and not accessible to students or children.
Preventative Maintenance & Work Orders:
Supports UCA and APL with classroom adjustments, minor repairs, and daily operational needs.
Assists with facility readiness during services, VBS, SPRINTS, conferences, graduations, and special ministry events.
Helps prepare indoor and outdoor spaces to ensure a welcoming, safe, and functional environment for all campus activity.
Provides courteous assistance to staff and volunteers during event setup, transitions, and teardown.
Uses tools, materials, and equipment responsibly and keeps maintenance areas organized and clean.
Communication, Reporting & Team Collaboration:
Communicates clearly with the Facilities Manager, fellow technicians, school staff, and ministry departments.
Responds to requests with a teachable, solution-oriented attitude.
Reports facility issues, hazards, and completed work promptly and through proper channels.
Works collaboratively as part of a team and supports the broader operations of the church and school during peak ministry seasons.
Remains attentive and engaged throughout each shift, maintaining a service-minded and ministry-focused posture.

Education, Training, and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical training or hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or property maintenance preferred.
Two (2) or more years of experience performing general maintenance and repair work in commercial, institutional, school, or church facilities preferred.
Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or a relevant field preferred.
Experience performing routine and preventative maintenance across multiple building systems.
Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting repair tasks.
Experience supporting campus operations and coordinating with outside vendors or licensed contractors when needed.
Experience in school, church, or public-facing environments preferred.
Valid California driver’s license required to operate campus vehicles and transport materials.
Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Knowledge of basic electrical maintenance, including replacement of light fixtures, switches, outlets, and ballasts (non-licensed work only).
Experience performing basic plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing faucets, valves, toilets, and clearing minor drain obstructions.
Skill in minor carpentry and building repairs, including door hardware adjustments, drywall patching, and paint touch-ups.
Capacity to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, carts, and standard maintenance equipment.
Ability to conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, or repair needs.
Working understanding of preventative maintenance practices that support the long-term condition of campus facilities.
Competence in completing work orders accurately and documenting maintenance activities as required.
Ability to assist with room setups, furniture movement, and event preparation and breakdown.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while responding appropriately to direction from the Facilities Manager.
Effectiveness in working as part of a Facilities Team while supporting active school and ministry environments.

Pastors are required to attend all regularly scheduled Sunday and Wednesday church services. Support staff must attend at least one (1) regularly scheduled weekend church service.
Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events. This includes serving at Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas services as well as the annual volunteer appreciation event.
Regular involvement in Patria Church activities, ministries, neighborhood groups, and events.
Tithe 10% to the Patria Church.
