    • We are hiring a casual (per diem) Maintenance Technician position to provide a clean and well-maintained convent home for elder Franciscan sisters in northern ** Chicago (60659 area near Lincolnwood and North Park neighborhoods)!**

    • ****This per diem Maintenance Technician would be picking up shifts as available, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Occasional weekends may also be available.

    Under the direction of the Facility Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs tasks to maintain buildings, structures, equipment, and grounds at assigned properties. The scope of responsibilities can be for a single building, a portion of a building, or a small campus.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Performs routine plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.

    • Maintains furnace and air-conditioner to ensure proper performance. Replace air-conditioner filters as indicated.

    • Performs routine tasks related to building repair and maintenance, groundskeeping, moving of furniture and equipment.

    • Cleans snow from sidewalks and parking lots using snowplow, snow blower and/or shovel.

    • Mows lawn, trim shrubbery and cultivate flowers using hand tools, power tools and lawn equipment.Ensures all light fixtures are operational and change light bulbs, as necessary.

    • Interprets and investigates work orders via the work order system and perform the work requested to quality standards. Closes-out work orders per department policies and procedures.

    • Performs routine security tours of buildings and grounds. Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are properly secured.

    • Observes assigned area(s) for damage and needed repairs. Acts to complete repairs within scope of employee's abilities. Notifies Facility Manager if assistance is needed with repairs to ensure the repair is taken care of timely and properly.

    Education and Experience:

    • One (1) to three (3) years of general maintenance experience is required.
    • Knowledge of electrical wiring, plumbing, and excellent mechanical aptitude preferred. Knowledge of building construction or related trades.
    • High school graduate or equivalent required.
