Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift
Reports To: Plant Manager
Department: Production
Schedule: 1st Shift – Monday to Friday (Normal Business Hours)
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing all machinery used in production operations, as well as supporting the upkeep of the facility. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while maintaining compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all established safety rules, policies, and procedures at all times.
Install, relocate, and set up new or existing machinery and equipment as needed.
Perform preventive maintenance including inspection, calibration, safety checks, and repair or replacement of worn or damaged components.
Adhere to all safety standards including lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding, and equipment safety guidelines.
Evaluate machines proactively to ensure proper guarding and safety mechanisms are in place.
Conduct facility maintenance including plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs or modifications.
Ensure maintenance requests and equipment issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Purchase maintenance parts and components within designated spending limits while maintaining quality and cost efficiency.
Design, fabricate, and construct fixtures, tools, or equipment modifications as needed.
Maintain accurate awareness of safety practices and complete required training.
Keep work areas organized, clean, and safe.
Ensure all job functions align with company safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Ability to dismantle, repair, and reassemble industrial machinery such as motors, conveyor lines, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing equipment.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of motors, hydraulics, vacuum systems, electrical systems, and plumbing.
Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, manuals, and instructions.
Basic computer and math skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage maintenance priorities.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Mechanical Journeyman certification or Technical/Vocational training preferred.
Welding certification is a plus.
Work Environment
Full-time position in a manufacturing plant/warehouse environment.
Work may involve exposure to industrial machinery, moving equipment, and physical activity.
