  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Worker/Custodian supports the Sail 250 event by ensuring all event areas remain clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout the duration of the event. This role is essential to providing a positive experience for guests, vendors, and staff by maintaining sanitation standards and responding promptly to maintenance needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain cleanliness of event grounds, including public spaces, restrooms, vendor areas, and high-traffic zones
    • Perform routine trash collection and disposal; replace liners as needed
    • Sweep, mop, and pressure wash surfaces as required
    • Monitor and address spills, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly
    • Assist with setup and breakdown of cleaning stations and related equipment
    • Support minor maintenance tasks (e.g., light repairs, replacing bulbs, securing loose items)
    • Coordinate with event staff and supervisors to address urgent cleaning or maintenance issues
    • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and event protocols
    • Provide courteous assistance to guests when needed

    Qualifications

    • Previous custodial, maintenance, or janitorial experience preferred
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Strong attention to detail and reliability
    • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
    • Good communication and customer service skills
    • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the event

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts)
    • Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs
    • Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying of materials and supplies

    Work Schedule

    • Must be available June 19–June 23
    • Shifts may include early mornings, day shifts, evenings, and overnight coverage
