    Maintenance Worker

    Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 6:30am-5:00pm- Full-time

     

    Pay Rate: $16.33/hr.

     

    Location: 3556 Dam Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23453

     

    Uniform Requirements: Steel-toed boots, gloves, shirt and pants

     

    Job Duties:

    • Occasionally operate light automotive equipment and specialized maintenance equipment, such as weed eaters, pole saw, chain saw, etc.
    • Perform a variety of manual work to perform required maintenance on drainage ditches and systems.
    • Help with cleaning and maintenance of the following to ensure proper methods/techniques are utilized: Storm water drainage structures including culverts, manholes and pipe mains, concrete, metal and plastic pipe.
    • Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.
    • Carries tools, equipment and supplies to/from job site by truck and/or by hand.
    • Service/perform minor repairs on equipment.
    • Assist loading/unloading materials.
    • Serves as a flagger to direct traffic around construction on the roadways.
    • Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on current workloads and department needs.

      Minimal/ Additional Requirements:

    • Ability to perform manual work tasks to install and maintain signs.
    • Completion of 7th grade plus one (1) year of experience in fi elds, such as municipal public works maintenance or construction, utilizing the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
    • All employees may be expected to work hours more than their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
    • Virginia driver’s license.
