Position: Maintenance and Grounds Technician
Reports to: Facilities & Grounds Operations Director
Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Description Summary
Maintenance personnel are responsible to ensure the facility is mechanically operating properly, equipment is properly cared for, the appearance of the building is maintained in excellent condition, and the grounds are attractive and well cared for. Maintenance personnel are responsible for leading volunteer teams to help achieve a team spirit at PVBC that results in an effective maintenance team that cares for the facilities, grounds, and equipment with excellence as the standard.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all building and grounds equipment (HVAC, Tractors, Custodial Equipment, etc.).
Responsible for performing all activities related to electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry repairs to the facility as needed. Grounds maintenance including landscaping.
Capable of responding to any emergency or safety concerns pertaining to the facility and or grounds (Fire, Electrical, Sprinklers, Alarm & Camera Systems, Locking System, Severe Weather, etc.).
Responsible for cultivating and implementing a team spirit not only with other staff members but with all vendors, volunteers and key leaders.
Responsible for responding to all work orders in a timely manner and to ensure work is done with excellence and in a cost-effective manner.
Assist Facilities & Grounds Operations Director to ensure all contract labor and vendor contracts are fully met. This would include areas such as Alarm Systems, HVAC, Elevator Services, Pest Control, and any short-term related contractor services.
Develop a day-to-day culture with staff and volunteers that will allow/exhibit a vibrant relationship with Christ.
Qualifications / Job Skills
● General knowledge of HVAC systems
● Cultivate an Ephesians 4 culture that results in leading teams and developing volunteers
● Knowledge in all phases of building repair and maintenance
● Exceptional people skills
● General working knowledge of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs
● General knowledge of grounds keeping. This includes landscaping and lawn care
● General knowledge of machine operation
● Willingness to develop skills as training opportunities become available
● Organizational skills
● Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Education / Experience
● At least 3 – 5 years experience related to facility maintenance
● At least 1-2 years Groundskeeping
● Master Gardener experience a plus
● Minimum High School Diploma
● Some leadership, management and organizational skills are helpful
