Key Responsibilities
Donor Portfolio Management
Manage a portfolio of approximately 80 to 120 individual donors and prospects with capacity to give $2,500 and above
Develop tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each donor
Build genuine, long-term relationships through tours, meetings, calls, and thoughtful follow-up
Maintain accurate, timely records of all donor interactions in the CRM
Revenue Generation
Secure major gifts in support of HSFC’s priorities through one-on-one, face-to-face donor visits and solicitations
Partner closely with the CEO on top-tier donor relationships and solicitations
Prepare proposals, impact updates, and customized follow-up materials
Based on strengths, take ownership of either:
Corporate donations and sponsorships or
HSFC’s legacy and planned giving program
Pipeline Development
Identify and qualify new major gift prospects through events, referrals, and donor data
Actively manage a healthy pipeline with clear next steps and timelines
Track and report on donor retention, upgrades, and engagement trends year over year
Collaboration and Strategy
Work alongside the CEO, Development team, and board members to leverage relationships
Support and coach board members in donor engagement when appropriate
Contribute ideas and insight to overall fundraising strategy and planning
Stewardship and Reporting
Ensure donors feel seen, appreciated, and informed about the impact of their giving
Provide regular reports on portfolio performance, pipeline health, and activity metrics
Additional Responsibilities
To stay connected to our mission, all non-operations teammates spend regular time alongside our shelter and clinic teams. This keeps our work grounded and strengthens how we share HSFC’s story with donors.
Events are an important donor touchpoint. This role supports events by engaging donors, hosting, and stewarding relationships. On event days, everyone pitches in as needed, but this role is not responsible for event planning logistics.
Compensation
Competitive base salary based on experience and fit, plus a performance bonus of up to 15%.
Additional performance bonus will be based on:
Meeting or exceeding development goals
Pipeline growth and consistent activity
Quality of donor engagement and stewardship
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in major gifts, relationship-based fundraising, or high-trust sales (we’re open to strong sales professionals who can learn nonprofit fundraising).
Demonstrated success securing gifts of $2,500 and above
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Confidence in donor meetings, tours, and one-on-one conversations
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple relationships at once
Experience using a CRM or donor management system (HSFC uses GiveSmart)
Deep alignment with HSFC’s mission and values
