    Job Summary :

    The Major Gifts Officer leads Milwaukee Habitat’s annual fund efforts, securing vital financial support through the development and execution of comprehensive donor strategies. The role is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a donor portfolio with annual giving capacities ranging from $1,000 - $25,000. The Major Gifts Officer manages the donor pipeline to cultivate long-term engagement and secure major gifts to advance Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity’s mission.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and grow a portfolio of 150-200 donors making major gifts between $1,000 and $25,000, with particular focus on growth at the $10,000 level and above.
    • Create, implement, and faithfully execute donor touch strategies and recognition plans/events so donors are informed, thanked and retained
    • Create solicitation goals for additional gift growth from mid-to-major level donors, whether one-time gifts or multi-year commitments.
    • Schedule discovery calls and campaign ask meetings with mid-to-major level donors.
    • Identify and solicit prospects for major gifts based on giving history, research, and networking.
    • Manage the Habitat for Humanity International direct mailing program in the Milwaukee market.
    • Schedule visits with donors who represent the highest giving potential for the organization, with support from the Director of Philanthropy, VP of Advancement and the Chief Executive Officer or other management, peers and volunteers as appropriate.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to articulate Milwaukee Habitat’s mission and the critical need for safe, decent and affordable housing in Milwaukee to donors, prospects, volunteers and other stakeholders.
    • Capable of managing projects, processes, deadlines, and a budget while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization.
    • Proven track record of success in an environment of similar complexity, including one-on-one meetings with major donors and prospects.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant fund development experience.
    • Strong personal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively express ideas, along with demonstrated experience making donor visits and giving presentations.
    • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and good driving record

    Compensation

    • $55,000/yr -75,000/yr; based on experience
