MAJOR TOOL & MACHINE IS SEARCHING FOR A TEAM PLAYER WITH EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS TO FILL OUR BUYER POSITION. As a Buyer, you will issue purchase orders within guidelines and complete follow up communications to vendors to ensure timely delivery. Accountable for understanding and following all SOPs and WIs related to job duties while supporting 6S and Lean Manufacturing concepts.  

DUTIES:

• Generate purchase orders for shop supplies, maintenance items, and material requirements as needed.
• Verify nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
• Solicit price and lead time information from the supply base. 
• Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine if they are compatible with company objectives.
• Generate purchase orders and follow up on delivery of orders.
• Input all changes into the purchasing system, including inventory purchase orders, price changes, and system updates.
• Research invoice discrepancies and approve invoices for payment as required by Accounts Payable.
• Expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery as determined by requestors' schedules.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, and terms of sale with suppliers.
• Process documentation to set up new vendors.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of High school diploma or GED required.  Bachelors degree preferred. 
• Ability to read basic blueprints
• Strong computer literacy and data entry skills.
