    Location: Leander, TX 78641
    Schedule:

    · Monday–Thursday: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

    · Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

    · Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. & 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

    What is an Intervenor?

    An Intervenor is a specially trained professional who supports individuals who are deaf-blind with multiple disabilities. You’ll help make the world more accessible by facilitating communication, providing environmental information, and supporting community engagement.

    ️ Key Responsibilities:

    · Provide one-on-one communication support using sign language, gestures, symbols, and other methods

    · Facilitate access to sights, sounds, and activities in the environment

    · Build meaningful relationships with clients and their support networks

    · Develop and implement personalized intervention plans

    · Assist with transportation and community integration

    · Collaborate with families, professionals, and community members

    · Maintain accurate documentation and follow agency policies

    What You Bring:

    · At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent

    · Two years of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities

    · Six months of experience with individuals who are deaf-blind or function as such

    · Completion of 8+ semester hours in deaf-blind-related coursework and a 1-hour practicum

    · Proficiency in the client’s communication method (e.g., sign language, gestures, augmentative devices)

    · A valid Texas driver’s license and current auto insurance

    Founded in 1993, Disability Services of the Southwest (DSSW) is one of the largest providers of support services to people with disabilities and the elderly in the State of Texas. Our services include personal attendant services, nursing and therapies, as well as assistance in home modifications, adaptive aids, job coaching and supported employment.

    DSSW is licensed by the state to provide a wide range of services to persons with disabilities including Community Living Assistance and Support Services (CLASS), Consumer Directed Services (CDS), Deaf-Blind with Multiple Disabilties (DBMD), as well as private pay care for the elderly and people with disabilities.

    DSSW's programs are designed to assist persons with disabilities in achieving the greatest degree of independence possible within their community. The evaluation process by a nurse and the interview process by a program director and your independent case manager assure that an individual's needs are identified so that they can be met by the services available in each program.

    All programs are driven by consumer choice and a people first philosophy.
