    HealthFitness has an exciting new part-time opportunity (approximately 10-25 hours per week, depending on availability) for passionate FITNESS DESK ATTENDANTS to join our MIT Recreation team on campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology located in CAMBRIDGE, MA.  In this position, you will watch over the fitness center floors at both the Zesiger Center and the Wang Fitness Center during operating hours. You will be responsible for making sure that all equipment is clean and in working order as well as provide customer service for all fitness center users, MIT students, staff, faculty, alumni, families and community members.

     

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:     

     

    • Manage the fitness floor to include: act as primary contact providing customer service via the telephone, email, and in person.
    • Responsible for opening and/or closing the fitness center.
    • Clean and maintain equipment and stock cleaning supplies as needed.
    • Maintains order and appearance of all Fitness Center equipment.
    • Inspects equipment and reports any unsafe conditions or maintenance needs.
    • Completes the hourly participation counts.
    • Takes the initiative to tend to any areas in need of attention.
    • Has knowledge of and enforces Fitness Center policies as listed in the employee manual, membership handbook, and university and state safety  protocols.
    • Communicate and relay information, concerns, and feedback to the Fitness Director.
    • Ensures patron safety by remaining knowledgeable and providing instruction on the proper use of fitness center equipment.
    • Remains current in CPR and First Aid certification and is knowledgeable in all emergency procedures of the Fitness Center.
    • Actively promotes all Fitness Center initiatives, programs and operations.
    • Projects and other duties as assigned.

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

     

    • High School diploma or GED required.
    • Current CPR/AED/first aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required upon hire.
    • 1 year of fitness center experience preferred.
    • 1+ years of customer service experience strongly preferred.
    • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
    • Please be advised that the client site in which this position is located does require periodic COVID-19 testing performed onsite and at no cost to you.  Employment at this location will be contingent upon your adherence to this testing requirement.
    • This site requires a COVID-19 vaccination for all associates. Proof of vaccination will be a condition of employment.
