    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

     

    The Payroll & Accounting Specialist will assist the MPM Payroll & Accounting Supervisor with the payroll’s day to day processes as well as the accounting side of payroll such as payroll related journal entries preparation, payroll reconciliation, benefits invoice reconciliation, 401k reconciliation, payroll processing, payroll data auditing, preparing payroll reports for billback and workers comp and other reporting and auditing tasks.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    · Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information

    • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
    • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
    • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
    • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
    • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for preparation of journal entries

    · Exceptional customer service, strong communication, and the ability to be analytical and multi-task are extremely important.

    · Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and take ownership when dealing with tasks.

    · Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.

    · Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

    · Perform benefits invoice recon and 401k recon

    · Prepare payroll reports such as billback, workers comp, EEO-1 and other payroll related reports

    · Assist with the annual audits

    · Prepare payroll related journal entries

    · Perform payroll reconciliation

     

     

     

     

     

    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

     

    · AA degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    · 1+ years of payroll processing experience required.

    · Knowledge of ADP payroll or Workforce Now a plus

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

     

    · Strong organizational, analytical and oral/ written communication (English) skills required.

    · Intermediate level in MS-Excel 2013 or higher.

    · Proficiency in MS Office and PC skills required.

    · Ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

    · Ability to work well with others in a professional, team-oriented environment.

    · Must be able to perform independently according to departmental standards with little supervision.

    · Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines when faced with multiple/competing tasks. Excellent interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain effective working relationships across all levels within the organization.

    · Maintains information in a confidential manner and complies with all wage and hour laws according to policy.
