    Job Description

    The Manager of Business Affairs for the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group is a unique opportunity to be part of a vibrant team supporting the development and production of world-class filmed entertainment. You will be exposed to sophisticated and top level deal making and mentored by the group with the aim of providing the necessary building blocks to succeed and progress within the department.

    Your primary role and focus as the Manager of Business Affairs for the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group is to provide day to day business affairs services, advice and support for the Business Affairs Department for the Film Group. Primary responsibilities include:

    • Assisting with the negotiation of agreements (including agreements for writers, rights, producers, directors and actors)
    • Researching business practices and policies relevant to such deals
    • Drafting detailed summaries of deal terms
    • Preparing business documents reflecting negotiated deal terms
    • Supporting ongoing data management for such deals
    • Assisting with implementation of and compliance with agreements and policies
    • Analyzing and reviewing rights and chain of title
    • As well as working as part of the Business Affairs Department, you will also interface and coordinate with production, physical production, marketing, publicity, tax, insurance, labor relations, corporate legal and music departments to provide advice and information as needed.
    • The Manager reports to the Senior Vice President of Business Affairs and will also provide support to the Business Affairs team
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience in the entertainment industry
    • Practical understanding of the film business and its day-to-day functions
    • Maintains confidentiality and ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) and active member of CA State Bar preferred
    • Willingness to be proactive, take ownership of projects, and be open to new challenges
    • Ability to work with multiple business partners
    • Familiarity and interest in information management systems and tools
    • Proven in depth knowledge and experience in drafting and negotiating motion picture development and production agreements
    • Ability to multi-task and think strategically, practically, and creatively when solving problems
    • Resilience to working within a complex, fast moving organization

    Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

    Salary range: $85,000-110,000 (bonus eligible).

    $85,000-$85,000 per year
