ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Manager of Development Events will plan and execute high quality engagement and cultivation experiences for prospective and current supporters, Board Members, community partners, volunteers, as well as other development stakeholders across the KIPP Texas network. Success in this position fuels the new donor pipeline, supporter retention, increased giving, in-kind giving, and manages all aspects of stakeholder development event opportunities. The Manager of Development Events, in collaboration with other Manager of Development Events across regions, the Development Events Assistant, Director of Development Events, and the Managing Director of Development Events is charged with an annual fundraising goal of at least $2MM to support our General Operating budget. As an ambassador of the KIPP mission and brand, they’re responsible for raising public awareness about KIPP Texas through fundraising events. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience, adaptability, a proven fundraising record, and will be adept at building both internal and external relationships.
This position will work closely with each regional Director of Development, and Development Manager to appropriately coordinate and provide local and statewide donor engagement support through fundraising events.
Key Responsibilities
Design, plan, and execute engagement opportunities through regional and statewide events including small donor engagement events whether for fundraising, cultivation, or stewardship
Creates and manages San Antonio and Austin regional Development events project timeline, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and that all involved know what is expected of them in a timely manner
Manage a diverse set of talent and voices from ambassadors, teachers, students, alumni and other stakeholders for development fundraising purposes
Work with Development fundraising team, event Co-Chairs, and/or committees to ensure that financial goals are reached through pledges, direct donations, table sales, etc.
Manage all aspects of events including, but not limited to: negotiating contracts with vendors, producing the program & event run of show, creating & managing the event budget, updating event webpage, marketing collateral used for event outreach, etc.
Tracks event table/ticket sales, pledges, and donations
Collaborate with other departments, Development team members, and KIPP Texas Leadership team to produce event related outcomes such as but not limited to: tracking and reconciling pledged gift amounts and expenses with accounts receivable, secure donations for event specific fundraising activities such as silent/live auction, creating and managing the design and distribution of event promotional materials
Lead/facilitate both internal and external meetings. Successfully create meeting agenda content, scheduling, meeting deliverables, and overall facilitation of meeting.
Supports with table and ticket seating information
Manages volunteer need, outreach, and training
Travel required - Ability to travel across regions as needed to aid in the successful execution of statewide events as well as team centered activities when they arise
Plans and manages event day logistics such as: parking, catering, signage, ROS, volunteers, etc
Availability past organization’s standard work hours during event season(s) and as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Knowledge:
A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Event Management, Project Management) or equivalent experience is preferred.
Event management experience with a proven record of accomplishment of managing complex projects independently.
Travel & Work Time Expectations:
Preferred candidates will have access to a reliable vehicle, as this role may require picking up, delivering, and returning event-related materials and supplies as needed, traveling to schools, etc.
Requires flexibility regarding statewide travel and lodging for event support as needed
Required to work in-person from regional offices three days a week
Must be prepared to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, during peak event seasons to ensure successful event execution. This includes working during KIPP or public holidays as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement, donor outreach, and volunteer coordination with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Highly organized with attention to detail in logistics, scheduling, planning, with level of accuracy, and financial/budget reporting.
Ability to work both on broad-based strategy and everyday details
Ability to manage a timeline and to meet pertinent deadlines
Strong follow-up and follow-through communication skills necessary
Ability to multitask, to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals, and to initiate process improvements
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge fundraiser and donor software
Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines

The starting point for the salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000 commensurate upon experience and internal-equity.
