    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager/ Technical Lead to oversee the development and evolution of our web platforms for E-Online, Oxygen, Syfy and USA Network. This role combines strong technical skills with team leadership and architectural oversight. You will lead a team of engineers focused on delivering performant, secure, and scalable web experiences while closely collaborating with cross-functional teams in product, design, editorial, and infrastructure.

    You’ll help set technical direction, contribute directly to the codebase, and shape the long-term maturity of our publishing systems. The ideal candidate has deep experience working in enterprise environments and is passionate about building world-class publishing platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    _ Technical Leadership_

    • Define platform architecture and evolve best practices around website development and web application performance
    • Drive architectural decisions that ensure scalable, secure, and reliable systems
    • Lead technical spikes, proof-of-concepts, and evaluation of emerging technologies and tools
    • Provide hands-on guidance in theme and plugin development, system integration, and code standards

    _ Team Guidance & Mentorship_

    • Manage, coach, and grow a team of engineers—fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence
    • Conduct regular code and design reviews, delivering thoughtful and actionable feedback
    • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and editorial leads to ensure alignment across initiatives
    • Champion team learning through design presentations, knowledge-sharing, and internal documentation

    _ Hands-On Contribution_

    • Remain actively involved in development, contributing to the codebase and setting the bar for quality and maintainability
    • Build and maintain custom components and support integration with third-party platforms
    • Collaborate on front-end architecture to support responsive, modular, and high-performance UIs

    _ Planning & Operations_

    • Partner with leadership on roadmap planning and long-term platform goals
    • Monitor site health, performance, and availability using observability tools
    • Support incident response and resolution for production issues when escalated
    • Drive process improvements across the development cycle, from deployment to QA

    Salary Range for this role is: 155k-175k USD

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • 7+ years of professional experience in software development with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management capacity
    • Proven experience managing large-scale websites and platforms, built on various technologies such as React, Node.js, Drupal, GraphQL.
    • Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript , Node.js , PHP (LAMP stack) , and MySQL/Postgres, Mongo
    • Strong knowledge of system design, architecture patterns, security, and performance optimization
    • Experience working with GraphQL, RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and modern config formats like YAML
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud-native infrastructure
    • Understanding of front-end performance tuning, SEO, caching, and deployment strategies
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong ability to bridge technical and business discussions

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with CDNs such as Akamai or Fastly
    • Experience with high-traffic media or publishing platforms
    • Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and cross-platform consistency
